The Illawarra IMB Seahawks came up short against the tour UNLV Runnin' Rebels on Friday night at the Snakepit, 75-77.
With a 6-point lead inside the final 30 seconds the game seemed over,
but Dom Cooks sliced through the key and converted a tough layup and
nailed the bonus free throw.
UNLV then managed just a free throw before Mat Campbell drilled a clutch baseline three to make it a one point game.
When UNLV's Wink Adams could only sink one free throw Illawarra had the
seven seconds to steal the game, but the last pass to a seemingly
unmarked Dan Jackson under the basket was intercepted to prevent a
Seahawks win.
The ahm Hawks contingent of Mat Campbell, Larry Davidson, Dan Jackson
and Anthony Petrie top scored with 14, 13, 12 and 11 points
respectively.
Illawarra led into the first break before a barrage of threes jumped the Runnin Rebels out to a 14 point lead before half time.
