Rhy Martin leads Rockets to 8th straight

Rhys Martin's 29 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals & 4 assists led the top placed Rockhampton Rockets to a 127-95 win over Caboolture on Friday night.

Martin hit 11/16 (65%) from the floor, including 4/6 threes.

Rockhampton backed it up on Saturday night, taking care of the sixth place Brisbane Capitals 107-87. Martin continued his hot shooting, with 9/16 (56%) field goals - 2/3 from deep, he also had 5 boards and 5 assists.

Former Brisbane Bullet import Dusty Rychart played a lone hand for the Capitals, finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

 
Olympic Dream ends for Tait & NZ

Glen Saville will be the lone ahm Hawk participating at the 2008 Beijing Olympics following the Lindsay Tait & New Zealand Tall Blacks elimination from the final qualifying stage in Greece over the weekend.

Tait top scored for NZ with 9 points.

Cameron Tragardh grabbed his first triple double of the season in the Wizards 137-112 win over the Mountainaires, Trigger amassed a staggering 67-points & 26-rebounds to go with his 11-assists.

The 67 point haul came with 75% shooting from the floor (30/40), and 7/12 from the free throw line.

Sav selected for Beijing

ahm Hawk Glen Saville has been selected for his second Olympic Games, making the 12-man Australian squad for next months Beijing Olympics, he also participated at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Sav is joined another two former Hawks, David Andersen and CJ Bruton along with Andrew Bogut who just signed a 70-million dollar contract with Milwaukee Bucks.

Rhys Martin had 11-points, 7-rebounds and a couple of assists in for the Rockhampton Rockets as they easily disposed of the first placed South West Metro Pirates 107-77.

Rockets (9-2) sit just behind the Pirates (10-2).

Glen Saville has taken another step in his quest to make the Australian Olympic team, being named in the squad to playing a three game series against Croatia beginning on July 2 followed by games against Greece and Brazil in Athens.

The Australian Boomers cruised to a 94-60 win over the New Zealand Tall Blacks, Lindsay Tait with 14-points was again the only Tall Black to reach double figures.

The ahm Hawks other representative in the game - Glen Saville - was the Boomers equal high rebounder with 5, Sav also had 4 points.

ahm Hawks guard Lindsay Tait has been named in New Zealand's 14-man team to face the Australian Boomers in the upcoming Al Ramsay Shield. Former Hawk Jeremy Kench was also named to make his Tall Black debut.
