The Illawarra IMB Seahawks provided John Philip a winning farewell from The Snakepit & Waratah ABA League, with a 120-102 victory over the Central Coast.
Both teams traded baskets for the first half before Seahawks launched a three-point attack early in the third to blow their opponents off the court.
At the half, Illawarra held a 58-57 lead.
A lack of effort was rectified at half-time and the twelve minute barrage that followed, and coupled with solid team defense made it 91-73 heading into the final quarter.
During the run Brad Simpson, John Phillip and Cameron Fincher hit back-to-back-to-back threes to take the complete control of the match.
Pope in his last game had 27 points, 11
boards, 4 assist, 3 blocks and 3 steals off the bench.
ahm Hawk Daniel Jackson finished with 19 points and 8
rebounds, Point-guard Dom Cooks had 18 points and 7
assists.
Luke Higgins (8 assists) and Cam Fincher were again awesome at maintaining pressure defence coming off the
bench.
Youngster Brad Simpson was a microwave off the bench, quickly heating up for 16 points on 7 / 9
shooting in just 11 -minutes of court time.
Coach Matt Flinn faces a tough problem finding minutes for everyone in a deep squad with multiple contributors, but conceded the positive side "the players know that if they do not sprint the floor, they come out of the
game".
Former Hawk Troy 'Truck' Pilon joins the team as John Philip's replacement.
